Lipoma

Lipomas are benign fatty growths that commonly growon individuals. Some patients have a family history and are prone to grow multiple lesions on the arms, legs, and trunk. Most lipomas have no symptoms and can be ignored without treatment. If these growths become tender or bothersome, they can often be removed in an outpatient setting. Dr. Brown can perform surgery on smaller lesions, but larger lipomas often need the attention of a general surgeon. For patients who prefer to avoid surgery, Dr. Brown can also perform monthly injections to slowly melt away the fat cells in the area. Please note that this is considered off-label for lipomas, and as such, is not covered by insurance. However, it is an excellent option for the patient who can't undergo the downtime and recovery of surgery or who prefers to avoid a surgical scar.
